Belfast News & Features is based in Northern Ireland and supplies words and pictures to local and national newspapers across the United Kingdom, websites, and a variety of national lifestyle, real life and women’s magazines.
The company was founded by journalist Jade Beecroft and is based near Belfast.
Jade’s background in journalism is extensive and varied. After completing a degree in journalism studies in Sheffield, her hometown (she’ll tell you that if cut, she bleeds Henderson’s Relish), she worked as a cub reporter at the Sheffield Star, before moving to Edinburgh to set up the features department at a leading Scottish news agency. She produced features for women’s magazines like Closer and Take a Break, and stories for national newspapers including the Daily Mail and Mirror.
Jade then moved to London to develop her interest in health journalism, working for BUPA’s publications, before heading back north to take up the position of health correspondent on the Derby Telegraph. After successfully campaigning against a postcode lottery involving cancer drugs, she moved onto the newsdesk, and spent six years managing the newsroom in Derby before moving across the M1 to become news editor of the Nottingham Post – another big regional daily.
The role of news editor is central to the working of any newsroom, so Jade is adept at producing accurate and engaging copy to tight deadlines – not to mention multi-tasking. She’s dealt with enough press releases, PR people (and bum steers) to know what commissioning editors want.
Over her years in newspapers and magazine, Jade likes to think she’s seen it all – but still regularly turns up the unexpected. With Belfast News & Features she writes for a wide variety of publications including the Mail Online and Sun Online, Chat, Take a Break, Bella, Women's Own, That's Life, Fate & Fortune, It's Fate and Northern Woman.
Whatever the story, Jade will treat the information you give to her sensitively and with respect. So whether you’re a publication looking for a great story, delivered promptly with no howlers, or a member of the public looking to tell your story and raise awareness of a cause close to your heart, Belfast News & Features can help.
